Roy Haynes for RCA Japan from 1973.
Roy Haynes - Drums,Vocal ; Richard Davis - Bass ; Kenny Barron - Piano ; Teruo Nakamura - Percussion
First time out in blogland for this rarity which only made a limited vinyl release in Japan in '75 and has never made a reissue since in any format.Haynes is joined by Barron on piano and Richard Davis on bass - sitting in for Nakamura - who moves over to percussion and production duties for the session . Four long cuts make up the album - two originals from Barron and Haynes plus a couple of standards.
"Azteca" is a furious firecracker to kick off with and the latin mood continues with Chano Pozo's "Tin Tin Deo" and Haynes' "Togyu". "Dear Old Stockholm" closes the album and is performed as a trio with Nakamura sitting out.
TOUGH!

Tin Tin Deo on heavy rotation! Once again you've surpassed yourself. Great share, thanks a lot!
That cover... so bad it's probably the reason the album was never reissued ;-)
Granted, Togyu means bullfight. But that's no excuse for Haynes to be depicted as the bull — surely he's the matador in this ring!
Freaky stuff appreciated over here..

BTW, FLAC link is dead, mp3 good enough for me :)
klakadak:FLAC link works fine and is NOT dead
Yes, you're right, FLAC link works! My bad. It is the way Fifefox breaks it, so straight clicking through leads to nowhere. Thank you for the post again, and thank you for pointing this out.
Thanks for this, been following you for a few years, but never downloaded anything until my son showed me how. Got plenty of vinyl myself and always great to hear new stuff.
Thank you, what a dope addition this will be to my archive
Very nice and sooo rare! Many thanks for this listen!
